Looking for some used and abused bikes.

I posted this under the 'bikes: for sale' part of Philly CL and I didn't get many responses. I was wondering if anyone know of any places that maybe sell for cheap really beat up parts, frames or whole bikes that no one else would want?
I am probably going to try looking at local thrift stores etc, but I am kindof looking for more variety than just the regular mountain bikes and road bikes that I keep finding. Those are great, but I am interested in a variety of shapes/types of bike for this project. I just don't want to go and buy bikes that are still in good working condition because I feel that would be a waste of a perfectly rideable bike

Deciding to ride a bike is just like most people who join a gym, buy an RV or boat. That is,it is often an emotional decision.
It is exciting for a while and then sits in the driveway, or a they have a membership that never gets used.
There are plenty of bikes on CL or at garage sales.
I just bought a mountain bike for my wife at a garage sale. The price, $10.00 and the tires still look new.Yes, it is a Huffy, though it does have some good equipment on it.
My wife will probably ride it a few times if I force the issue
