Vintage Yamaha motorcycles

.. that's why they changed their cruiser line to "Star" motorcycles, it makes them seem less Japanese and so their sales are taking off (judging by the ever growing number of the things at the bike shows they must be).
Suzuki's going for the power cruiser market with it's M109R, I'll be interested to see how that works out for them, it definitely looks like an interesting machine, but I don't like shaft drive on cruisers or sportsbikes, it's too clean and clinical, it's great for sports tourers though.
Harleys are Harleys and there are people who will always want a Harley just for the name, just like people who want Levis because they're Levis.

On both of my motorcycles are factory ones. The springer came with two windshields, one clear, one tinted. I also have another windshield that came with my Yamaha. That one came without mounting hardware, and I never did try to mount it. I will end up giving that one away to whoever buys the Yamaha's. This is the pair of 1982 Yamaha virago 920's that need a new home.Once I got the Harley Springer the Yamaha's got pushed to the back of the garage. Anyone in upstate NY looking for a pair of shaft drive Virago 920's????

I pretty sure that the only 600cc shaft drive bikes being made right now are from Honda and Yamaha (which is really a 650) and they are both cruiser style bikes.
Therer are actually very few chain drive cruisers being made right now. Most of them are shaft drive or belt drive. Although they are heavier than chain drive, weight is generally not high on the priority list for cruisers. Less maint. (change the oil every 5-10,000 miles) and a LOT cleaner. Those are important to many riders.
Many, if not most, of the modern, over 650cc, non-sportbike/performance motorcycles have gone to shaft drive for those 2 reasons
