Anderson .Paak Heads Back to His Underground Roots on 'Yo Gabba GabbaLand!'

Anderson .Paak has long been at the top of the pop world, but now he’s going back underground on Yo Gabba GabbaLand!

The musician will appear on episode one of the new revival of the long-running kids show Yo Gabba Gabba!, which is set to premiere this Friday, Aug. 9, on Apple TV+. In this new clip, premiering exclusively on Rolling Stone, .Paak, his band, and the Yo Gabba Gabba friends link up for a song about what goes on underneath the surface of Yo Gabba Gabba Land and how it’s connected to everything aboveground.

The track “We Are All Connected” is a delightful funk pop gem with a strutting bass line and cheeky horn stabs. “If you feel the energy coming from the ground/That just means you’re all connected to the magic all around,” .Paak sings before breaking into the chorus: “I said, hey!/We’re connected!/Roots underground!”

Along with .Paak, episode one of Yo Gabba GabbaLand! will feature a guest appearance from Gillian Jacobs, as well as the debut of the show’s new host, Kammy Kam, played by 12-year-old Kamryn Smith. The five main characters from the original series — Muno, Brobee, Foofa, Toodee, and Plex — are all returning, as well.

Just like the original Yo Gabba Gabba!, the revival will feature an array of musical guests, including Portugal. The Man, the Linda Lindas, Betty Who, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Miyavi, Big Daddy Kane, Corey Wong and Antwaun Stanley, DJ White Shadow, Thundercat, and the Drums. Additional guests on the first season include Reggie Watts, Sam Richardson, Chelsea Peretti, Lauren Lapkus, and Utkarsh Ambudkar.
