Rico Nasty Gets Flirty With 'On the Low,' Her Latest 'Lethal' Single

Rico Nasty dropped “On The Low,” the latest single from PG County, Maryland artist’s Lethal album. Riding along a buoyant synth riff, Rico croons about a sneaky link, singing, “You already know, I won’t kiss and tell if I get you alone” on the chorus.

“I wrote ‘ON THE LOW’ for the girls,” the rapper said in a statement. “It’s been one of my favorite songs on the record, and shows a different side to the album than TEETHSUCKER I think. She’s sweeter and cuter but just as LETHAL!!”

The track is indeed a stark sonic contrast from the rambunctious “TEETHSUCKER (YEA3X),” the first single from her third studio album, which will be released May 16 on Fueled by Ramen. The project is executive-produced by Grammy-nominated producer Imad Royal, who Rico lauds for refining her creative process from marathon 12-hour sessions to one song per day.

“I was very irritated. I would start off by being like, ‘No, I’m still making two songs today. I don’t give a fuck, I’m still following my own rules,’” she told Rolling Stone. “And then I had this realization. I made ‘Butterfly Kisses,’ ‘Say We Did,’ and ‘On the Low.’ Those are all one-song sessions. I made the songs and I left the studio. And do you know how liberating that is?”

Along with dropping Lethal, Rico will be making her acting debut in Apple TV+ and A24’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles, alongside a star-studded cast including Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfieffer, Nicole Kidman, Nick Offerman, Lindsey Normington. The David E. Kelley-created television drama is adapted from Rufi Thorpe’s eponymous novel.
