Anne Hathaway Let Jeremy Strong Borrow Mia Thermopolis' Bucket Hat for the Golden Globes

The likelihood that Jeremy Strong was hiding a luscious, fresh blowout beneath his turquoise velvet hat at the 2025 Golden Globes is low, but not zero. In a recent Instagram post, Anne Hathaway joked about lending the actor the same bucket hat that she donned as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries.

“Sweetheart, I’m not mad you borrowed it but I didn’t totally realize you were going to change the col… anyway, not important,” Hathaway wrote in the caption beneath a side-by-side comparison of the looks. “Congrats on your well deserved nom for The Apprentice!!!”

Changing up colors is what Strong’s outfit was all about. Having been relentlessly accused of only ever wearing the color brown, the actor figured it was time for something different: A seafoam green-hued velvet bucket hat paired with a matching Loro Piana suit and a white turtleneck.

After making his grand entrance on the red carpet, Strong made his way into the Beverly Hilton for the Golden Globes ceremony — where he was impossible to miss in any and every shot of the audience. “I can spot this diva anywhere,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Another declared: “Best part of the Globes was Mint flavored Jeremy Strong looming in the background of every wide shot.”

While Strong was mostly alone in his hat endeavorers, he did find solidarity in Andrew Scott, who also wore a bright blue suit of a different shade. “We’re the colors of the sea,” Scott told Strong when their separate Entertainment Tonight interviews collided on the red carpet. “We’re maritime chic.”

Strong was nominated for his role as the lawyer Roy Cohn in Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice. The award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role was ultimately presented to Kieran Culkin for his role in Jesse Eisenberg’s A Real Pain. The two actors previously starred together in Succession, a three-time winner of the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama. Given how impossible it was to miss Strong in the crowd, the cameras easily captured a moment of embrace between the Succession co-stars.
