Comedian and four-time Saturday Night Live guest host Chris Rock touched on several current events in his monologue, at one point previewing how the next Trump administration will carry out deportations with the help of MAGA devotee Elon Musk.
First, though, Rock took issue with complaints about Trump being “undignified” while in office.
“Dude. It’s the United States,” joked Rock, who was making his first SNL appearance since the Season 46 finale in May 2021. “We’ve had some presidents in theUnited States. Come on, man. This is not the most dignifiedjob in the world. We’ve had presidentsshow up to the inauguration withpregnant slaves, okay? And I’m just talking about BillClinton.”
“I mean, you know what country welive in.You know the history of thiscountry. You know how many rapists are inmy wallet right now? A cup of coffee in America costs seven rapists!” he continued. “Trump’s going to get it down tothree.”
As for Trump’s plans for mass deportations, Rock joked about how the Menendez brothers’ potential release may be ill-timed.
“Just in time to get deported,” he quipped.
“Trump is not playing, man. That’s right. This time it’s totallydifferent. He’s working with the number oneAfrican American in the world, the richest African American inthe world: Elon Musk,” he went on.
“Nobody knows how to get rid ofpeople like a South African.”
“Oh, he’s serious.Trump is not playing. He’s got Elon. They’re going to put them in arocket ship–call it ‘SpaceMex,’” Rock joked, alluding to Musk’s company, SpaceX.
Also on the topic of immigration, Rock referenced how MLB outfielder Juan Soto signed one of the most lucrative contracts in baseball history this week when he agreed to join the New York Mets.
“You know, a lot less immigrantswould come into America if you’dstop paying them $700 million toplay baseball,” he joked. “[Mets owner] Steve Cohen bought one Dominicanfor $700 million. You used to be able to get a wholebushel for that much!”
Among the other topics Rock addressed was the current president, and his pardon of son Hunter for tax and gun-related crimes.
“I got to hand it to Joe, man,” Rock said. “He don’t move as fastas he used to.He don’t talk as fast as he usedto, you know–but that middle fingerstill works!”
