'SNL': The Lonely Island Enlist Charli XCX for Snitching Anthem 'Here I Go'

The Lonely Island once again returned to Saturday Night Live, enlisting host Charli XCX for a song about suburban snitching, “Here I Go.”

On the track, Andy Samberg plays an upper middle class man whose pleasure in life is an “itching for snitching”: Calling the police on solicitors and people who throw garbage in the wrong bin.

“There’s something on the mind for a long time/A special passion of mine/I do it every chance that I find,” Samberg sings. “So next time you walk past and throw away your trash/I pick up the phone and then do what I do best/No here I go, I’m reporting you to the cops/Fills me with delight.”

Charli XCX, who served as both host and musical guest on the latest episode, appears mid-song as Samberg’s equally snitch-y wife. “Hold up, wait a minute/’Cause I’m about to snitch like I invented it,” she sings on the front porch. “I literally dare you to park within two centimeters of my driveway, bitch.”

“Here I Go” ends with the couple gleefully calling the cops on both a girl scout selling cookies and a dog that went potty on their lawn, both of whom are arrested by the police.

The Lonely Island — the trio of SNL vets Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone — most recently appeared on the Season 50 premiere, bringing with them their business idea for a “Sushi Glory Hole.” The trio were previously responsible for some of SNL‘s most beloved Digital Shorts — including the Rihanna-featuring “Shy Ronnie,” “Lazy Sunday,” and the Justin Timberlake-featuring “Dick in a Box” — during anSNLtenure that ran from 2005 to 2012.

In the dozen years since Samberg’s departure, he has appeared on a handful of SNL episodes, includingportraying “Second Gentlemensch” Doug Emhoffalongside Rudolph’s Kamala Harris in the Season 50 premiere.
