Those still feeling the void of Succession may find solace in forthcoming Netflix series House of Guinness. The show, created and written by Steven Knight, centers on the legacy of the Guinness family in the 19th century.
A trailer for the series teases the battle for power amongst the four children of beer magnate Sir Benjamin Guinness after his death. It stars Disclaimer actor (and famed Olivia Rodrigo boyfriend) Louis Partridge as Edward Guinness, Anthony Boyle as Arthur Guinness, Emily Fairn as Anne Plunket (née Guinness), and Fionn O’Shea as Benjamin Guinness.
A synopsis notes, “Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story begins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the phenomenon that is Guinness.”
House of Guinness was directed by Tom Shankland and Mounia Akl, and also stars James Norton, Jack Gleeson, Dervla Kirwan, and Niamh McCormack. The eight-episode series premieres on Netflix on Sept. 25.
Knight was recently announced as the screenwriter of the next James Bond film. The spy flick, to be helmed by director Denis Villeneuve, will be the first in the franchise for Amazon MGM Studios. “It has always been on my bucket list, and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it,” Knight said of the opportunity in a statement. “I can’t wait to get started.”
The screenwriter is also working on a new film that is being made in conjunction with Oasis’ ongoing reunion tour.The film is being created and produced by Knight and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, who were responsible for LCD Soundsystem’s 2012 concert filmShut Up and Play the Hits. The Oasis Live ‘25 movie does not currently have a title or a release date, and no specifics have been confirmed about its format or whether it’s even considered a documentary.A press release in March noted, “No further details regarding the content of the film will be released at this moment in time.”
