Modern dress codes can make suiting a little confusing. Some suits might feel too formal, some too loud, and others just downright boring. Luckily, we recently got a helping hand from J. Crew’s new suiting collection, launched with an assist from Leon Bridges.

We think the new batch of suits from J. Crew do two things right. First, they infuse some vintage charm without looking, well, old. The eye-catching patterned Kenmare blazer, for example, oozes mid-century cool while still looking decidedly modern. Second, the suits strike a nice balance between casual and formal. Take the navy Italian wool Crosby suit: It’ll come in handy for any formal event, or you can dress it down with a T-shirt and sneakers for dinner.
These new suits are part of J. Crew’s ongoing overhaul by creative director Brendon Babenzien, co-founder of Noah and former design director at Supreme. After going bankrupt in 2020, J. Crew tapped Babenzien to re-make the iconic American label and we think these new spring suits — along with the last several releases from Babenzien’s J. Crew — are proof that it’s working.
