Florence Pugh is the latest celebrity to have been publicly pelted by an object thrown at her while at an event. The actress was attending a Dune: Part Two Panel at Comic-Con in São Paolo, Brazil, on Sunday alongside costars Timothée Chalamat, Austin Butler, and Zendaya, posing for photos when something was thrown and hit her face.
In videos shared on social media, it’s unclear what was thrown, but it did hit her square in the face by her right eye. In a clip, she appears to say “Oh, wow” and reaches for the object on the ground.
Prior to the incident, she shared her thoughts about working on the film. “I had an amazing time coming in and just hanging around with these people, let alone actually getting to work with them,” she said.
“Coming in here — the power in this room — is because of that first movie, and we felt that when we went on set every single day. So it feels really, really special being here with the second one,” she said during the panel.
While Pugh appeared to be relatively unscathed following the incident, that hasn’t been the case for others who have appeared onstage and been hit by something thrown by a person in the audience. In June,Bebe Rexha was hit in the face by a flying cellphone, an incident that required stitches.

Last month, Taylor Swift stopped one of her shows in Buenos Aires to ask fans not to throw things. “It really freaks me out,” she said. “Because communication means having gentle, healthy boundaries, it really freaks me out when stuff gets thrown on the stage, because if it’s on the stage then a dancer can trip on it. I love that you brought presents and that is so nice, but just can you please not throw them on the stage. I love you so much.”
