Watch Dave Grohl Join Boygenius for 'Satanist' at Hollywood Bowl

Boygenius headlined the Hollywood Bowl last night and invited Dave Grohl on stage to play drums on “Satanist.” The band — Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker— were dressed as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, while Grohl donned all black and face paint as a demonic priest.

Boygenius performed a set list of their hits during the Halloween night show, including “Emily I’m Sorry,” “Cool About It,” and “Not Strong Enough.” They also performed solo songs by each of the three band members, notably Bridgers’ track “Motion Sickness.”

Boygenius released their debut LP, The Record, earlier this year. The group unveiled their four-song EP,The Rest,as a follow-up last month. The EP was produced by boygenius, Tony Berg, Jake Finch, Ethan Gruska, Calvin Lauber, Collin Pastore, and Marshall Vore. The first track, slow-burner “Black Hole,” got itslive debutduring their first show at Boston’s MGM Music Hall, while the band debuted “Afraid of Heights” the following night.

The group sat down with Rolling Stone for a January cover story, in which they discussed the genesis of the album and navigating their growing fame. “I don’t think that my life can change and blow up without my permission,” said Baker at the time. “I could just go play these gigs in bigger venues than I’m used to playing, and then I could just continue to go home and go help my neighbors mow their lawn.”

The band has been touring throughout the summer and fall, including a stop at Madison Square Garden. Following their appearance at the Hollywood Bowl, the musicians currently don’t have any further concerts on their schedule.
