Cameron Crowe Plots 'Uncool' Book Tour With Sheryl Crow, Kate Hudson

Cameron Crowe, the Oscar-winning writer and director behind Almost Famous (based on his early years writing for Rolling Stone), will take his upcoming memoir The Uncool on tour this fall.

Crowe, who also directed Jerry Maguire and Say Anything, will release his book on Oct. 28 before hitting the road on a seven-city book run across the U.S. The tour will launch in Washington D.C. and stop in Nashville, Chicago, San Diego, Seattle, and Los Angeles before concluding in San Francisco on Nov. 23.

Each gathering is billed as “intimate evenings of storytelling, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and the music that shaped his life,” with a special guest joining Crowe on every stop. Sheryl Crow will join Crowe in Nashville, and Kate Hudson, who starred in the cult classic Almost Famous as “Band aid” Penny Lane, will appear in San Diego. Jake Tapper is confirmed to join Crowe in Washington, D.C., with more names to be announced in the coming weeks.

“I’ve always loved telling the stories behind the stories,” Crowe said in a statement. “Introducing friends and loved ones to the unforgettable characters and adventures that inspired my journalism and movies has always been a passion. Now coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Almost Famous and the release of The Uncool, I can’t wait to share those intimate stories and evenings with the audiences who’ve followed my work over the years. It’s not only a privilege, it’ll be a blast.”

Presale begins Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. local time. General onsale begins Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. local time via LiveNation.com.
