The ARMY has a holiday gift to look forward to. Big Hit Music, which represents BTS, announced a new remix of Jung Kook‘s “Standing Next to You” with a feature from Usher, due out on Friday.
“Featuring the U.S.-based R&B artist Usher, this remix adds a velvety touch to the energetic vibe of the original version, showcasing the synergy between the two artists in full force,” Big Hit Music wrote in a statement.
“Standing Next to You” is one of 11 tracks in Jung Kook’s debut solo album Golden, which already includes the likes of Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, and Major Lazer as songwriters and producers. The album, which was released earlier this month, also featuresLatto in “Seven,” Jack Harlow in “3D,” Major Lazer in “Closer to You,” and DJ Snake in “Please Don’t Change.” Like “Standing Next to You,” “3D” has a remix of its own featuring Justin Timberlake.
And while this is the first time Usher has formally collaborated with a member of BTS, he was mentioned in their song “Butter,” with the lyrics, “Don’t need no Usher to remind me you got it bad.”
Jung Kook and fellow BTS members RM, Jimin, and V will begin serving their mandatory military duty in South Korea next month. In a letter on WeVerse last week, Jung Kook announced an update on his enlistment.
“As I share this news, I feel heavy on one hand, and on the other hand, I’m reminded of precious memories with ARMY, so my heart warms up,” he wrote. “Every moment I’ve spent with you has been the brightest time of my life. ARMY’s laughter, support, and love led me to this point. Thank you so much for supporting my dream and walking with me silently.”
