Michelle Williams’ next role: The voice of Britney Spears. The Oscar-nominated actress revealed Friday that she will serve as the narrator on the audiobook of the pop singer’s upcoming memoir The Woman in Me.
Spears herself will also read the introduction to her tome on the audiobook, which will arrive simultaneously with the memoir on October 24.
“This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it,” Spears said in a statement to People. “Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook. I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it.”
Williams added in a statement, “I stand with Britney.”
On the highly-anticipated memoir, Spears’ publisher Gallery Books noted, “In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others.The Woman in Mereveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history,” a release for the memoir reads. “Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last. ”
Spears also hinted that the memoir will go into detail about some of her favorite performances, including her iconic snake dance at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.
