“Olivia Rodrigo knocked it out of the park on her first try, with her instant classic of a debut, Sour,” Rolling Stone wrote in our Guts review at the time. “So expectations have been sky-high for her next move. But the suspense is over: Her excellent new Guts is another instant classic, with her most ambitious, intimate, and messy songs yet.”
In June, Rodrigo headlined Glastonbury and brought out The Cure’s Robert Smith during her performance. “I am so grateful to everyone who came out and sang and jumped,” she wrote online. “A night I will never ever forget.” Earlier that month, Rodrigo also welcomed Talking Heads legend David Byrne to the stage for her Governors Ball headlining set, where the two performed “Burning Down the House.”
Will she bring out another special guest for tonight’s performance? Fans will have to wait and watch Rodrigo play Lollapalooza on Hulu starting at 8:40 p.m. Chicago time.
