Jay-Z, Harry Styles, Bad Bunny Lizzo to Perform at 2023 Grammys

Jay Z and Harry Styles are officially joining the performance lineup for the 2023 Grammys. They join the previously announced first round of performers for the 2023 Grammys has been announced with Bad Bunny, Lizzo, Sam Smith, and Kim Petras leading the lineup.

Jay Z’s appearance will be part of an all-star performance of DJ Khalid’s Song of the Year-nominated “God Did,” which will also feature Lil Wayne, John Legend and Rick Ross, the Hollywood Reporter writes.

Also set to take the stage at this year’s show: Mary J. Blige, Brandi Carlile, Luke Combs, and Steve Lacy. The ceremony will also feature a performance from Stevie Wonder. He will be joined by Smokey Robinson and Chris Stapleton. The Grammys will air on Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, with Trevor Noah returning as host.

In celebration of 50 years of hip-hop, the 2023 Grammy Awards will also feature a star-packed performance from some of the genre’s biggest innovators. The tribute segment will be introduced by LL Cool J and shaped by musical director Questlove with narration from Black Thought and music from the Roots.

The grand slate of artists taking the stage features Big Boi, Busta Rhymes with Spliff Star, De La Soul, DJ Drama, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Missy Elliott, Future, GloRilla, Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Mele Mel & Scorpio/Ethiopian King, Ice-T, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, The Lox, Method Man, Nelly, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Rahiem, Rakim, RUN-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa and Spinderella, Scarface, Swizz Beatz, and Too $hort.

“For five decades, hip-hop has not only been a defining force in music, but a major influence on our culture,” Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, shared in a statement. “Its contributions to art, fashion, sport, politics, and society cannot be overstated. I’m so proud that we are honoring it in such a spectacular way on the GRAMMY stage. It is just the beginning of our year-long celebration of this essential genre of music.”

The bulk of the first wave of Grammy performers are up for major awards this year. Lizzo is nominated for all three top prizes, Record and Song of the Year for “About Damn Time” and Album of the Year for Special. Carlile and Blige are both up for Record and Album of the Year, while two of Lacy’s four Grammy nods were for Record and Song of the Year for his breakthrough hit “Bad Habit.”

And, of course, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti made history as the first album from the Latin music field ever to be nominated for Album of the Year. He’s also up for Best Pop Solo Performance (“Moscow Mule”) and Best Música Urbana Album.

Though not involved in the major categories, Smith and Petras’s new hit, “Unholy,” did pick up a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. And Combs is up for a trio of country awards, including Best Country Album (Growin’ Up), Best Country Song (“Doin’ This”), and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“Outrunnin’ Your Memory” with Miranda Lambert).
