Ethel Cain, Sophie Thatcher, Beach Fossils Join Campaign to 'Abolish ICE'

Ethel Cain, Beach Fossils, Sophie Thatcher, STRFKR, and Osees are among the 100 artists who have joined forces with a campaign calling to abolish ICE.

Launched by Los Angeles creative studio Ride or Cry and endorsed by 115 artists — including Samia, Acid Dad, Of Montreal, Ruth Radelet, Wisp, and dozens more — the campaign has already raised $60,000 for legal defense funds via a limited-run T-shirt available now through June 27.

“What started as a small idea born out of a desire to help our community while being positioned as a team in art and entertainment, grew so much bigger than we ever could have imagined,” Stephania Dwyer, co-owner of Ride or Cry, said of the effort in a statement.

“We’ve been reminded of the power there is when a community comes together under one unified message. The outpouring of love and support from all over the world has been unreal.”

“Beyond proud of my dear friend Stephania for organizing this for the cause, and so grateful at how many people showed up to support,” Cain added in a statement.

“America was built by immigrants, so the aggression and violence being carried out against them by the American government is appalling on so many levels. All I can hope for is everyone continues to fight for progress and equality in human rights no matter what.”

All proceeds from the shirt will benefit the Immigrant Defenders Law Center, Southern California’s largest nonprofit deportation defense organization that provides legal representation to immigrant communities facing unjust detention and deportation.
