Alex Albon’s 2025 F1 season is off to a hot start, with the fan favorite Williams driver currently standing eighth in the overall driver’s standings after the Miami Grand Prix, representing some of his best results to date.
Aside from making moves on the track, Albon is also accelerating a new brand partnership with Liquid I.V., the popular powdered electrolyte drink mix that offers essential vitamins and minerals while providing a boost of hydration for recovery, relaxation or while you’re on-the-go. Albon helped to kick off the partnership at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami as Liquid I.V. unveiled its new F1-branded Mango Hydration Multiplier, available now at Liquid-IV.com.

Though it falls outside the traditional racing and lifestyle space of Formula 1 at first glance, the partnership actually makes a lot of sense, when you consider that F1 drivers can reportedly lose up to ten pounds in a 90-minute race just from sweating alone. Per the brand, Liquid I.V. works to help replenish lost electrolytes and nutrients with its “science-based formula,” said to hydrate faster than water alone. Liquid I.V. says its powders deliver three-times the electrolytes of other sports drinks — something that immediately peaked Albon’s interest.
“As a professional racing driver, I am forever fitness training or travelling, so managing my hydration is key in keeping on top of my overall energy levels and performance,” he tells Rolling Stone. “As an athlete, you are always being reminded to take fluids on board and keep your drinks bottle to hand, so it definitely helps make things easier with Liquid I.V.”
Albon helped to unveil the new F1 Mango Hydration Multiplier flavor at the Liquid I.V. House during the Miami Grand Prix, where he placed a season-best fifth. Fans and athletes alike can now pick up the limited-edition flavor online here (you can also find the regular Liquid I.V. flavors on sites like Amazon).

The Thai driver has a lot to be excited about right now. In addition to the new Liquid I.V. partnership, Albon gained a new teammate in Carlos Sainz for 2025, and as he tells Rolling Stone, Team Williams has gained some newfound confidence in their chances as well.
We talked to the Williams star about the hot conditions inside an F1 car, how Liquid I.V. helps with his recovery, and why he sees “huge progress” in Williams’ near future.
You probably get hit up for brand partnerships all the time – what was it about Liquid I.V. that made you want to team up with them?
I enjoy working with brands that I believe in and ones that play a role in my day-to-day life. Liquid I.V. checks both of those boxes. I’m a big believer in the importance of hydration whether I’m Alex Albon the Formula 1 driver or simply living my daily life. Liquid I.V. is breaking barriers in the hydration space and makes it easy for me to stay focused, and ready for whatever I’m tackling that day.
A lot of viewers probably don’t notice it, but can you tell us how much you sweat in the car? What does it feel like in there?
We are wearing multiple layers of fireproof clothing and a heavy crash helmet so it gets pretty warm and stuffy inside the car. Generally speaking, we can lose 4-5 pounds in a normal race through sweat, whereas we lose more at the hotter and more physical races.
How do you stay hydrated during a race? Are you actually able to drink water while driving?
Yes, we have a small drinks bottle system which helps to keep us hydrated. It gets warm pretty quickly due to the temperature of the car, but it’s there in case we need it, and we often do!In the hotter race destinations, we can lose a lot of water weight through sweat, but with Liquid I.V. I can rehydrate and recover quicker so I’m able to continue performing at my best no matter where I am or what I am doing.
Obviously you’re hyper-focused while driving, but do you listen to any music before a race to get pumped up?
I’m probably a little awkward and different to other drivers, but I like peace and quiet before a race. I’m calm and enjoy a relaxed environment as I get ready for a race. It allows me to think and concentrate.
What about when you’re not on the track? What do you like to listen to?
I have a very random mix of music on my playlists, I guess like most people do. At the moment I am really enjoying listening to Chance Pena, but next week it will change to something totally different!
You welcomed a new teammate this year – Carlos Sainz. What has it been like working with Carlos and how has he pushed you to be a better driver?
It’s been really positive and enjoyable having Carlos join the team. He is an enormous talent, and brings a lot of experience which the entire team can benefit from. We are working well together in helping bring the team forward.
Did he give you any advice from his years of experience or did you give him any advice about Team Williams?
We share a lot of information with each other, about our experience and our ideas on how to improve the car and the team. It’s very open which is great, I don’t think we give each other advice, but more we just share our own beliefs which are quite similar.
James Vowles told me that Williams will be the team to watch this year because they’re making a big comeback — do you feel the same way?
Yes, I do. I really believe in this team and the people within it. With the leadership and investment, I think we can achieve great things together and make huge progress. We have started this season strongly but we must not get carried away, and our ambitions are far greater than P5 in the Constructors’ Championship. The feeling in the team is good, everyone is hungry and motivated, it’s a great environment.
