Former Saturday Night Live cast member Cecily Strong revived her portrayal of Jeanine Pirro alongside Colin Jost as Pete Hegseth, and the pair of “old drinking buddies” celebrated their reunion.
The duo, called the “AA team” by Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson), were glad to link up again after their stints at Fox News.
“I’m so proud to be part of thisgroup full of Russian assets, booze hounds, and people famousfor the little baby animalsthey’ve killed,” said Pirro, whom Trump had named interim attorney for the District of Columbia.
Trump said Pirro had the most important quality to him: “she’s on TV!”
“I love hiring people fromFox News. They all do an incredible job.Just Look at Pete Hegseth–not onemistake,” he said.
“No!” Pirro agreed. “He’s my old drinking buddy.”
Jost then entered, surprising Pirro, who sprayed the wine in her mouth all over his face.
When Trump told Hegseth to give an update on the military’s F-18 fighter planes, Pirro asked, “Is it bombing theHouthis?”
“Close. It fell off theaircraft carrier into the ocean,” Hegseth revealed, prompting another wave of wine.
Trump then wanted to know if Hegseth was maintaining his sobriety, which he had pledged to do if confirmed as Defense Secretary amid concerns about his drinking.
“I promised I would never have abottle touch my lips,” he said, giving himself a convenient loophole.
The Trump administration official removed a bottle of liquor from his jacket pocket.
“I do have some news toshare. Before I do, Jeanine: You wantto take a swig of this?” he offered.
When she dutifully did, Hegseth, a main figure in several controversies over the use of unsecured Signal chats for battle plans, filled her in.
“Anyway,” he said, “I accidentally added Kim Jong-unto the group chat.”
When Pirro went to spit the liquor at Hegseth, this time he reacted differently: eagerly turning to face her with his mouth agape.
