The officially licensed design turns the spherical speaker into a game-day ball. There are two designs: one orange speaker featuring the NBA logo and an orange and white striped speaker inspired by the WNBA ball. Amazon’s Echo Dots can also be paired with one another to create a whole-home speaker system, so there’s a case to be made for filling your home with these mini basketballs.
The compact Echo Dot speakers feature full Alexa functionality for setting alarms and timers, checking the weather (or box scores), or controlling smart home accessories like lights, thermostats, and TVs. The speakers are also a great way to stream music at home, thanks to their compatibility with Spotify, Apple Music, and SiriusXM. And if your preferred app doesn’t have native compatibility with Alexa, you can always use Bluetooth instead.
The Echo Dot also makes a great alarm clock, thanks to the tap sensor that lets you pause music or snooze your alarm. And if you prioritize privacy, the mute button disables the microphones.
The main catch with these speakers is the price tag, which tacks an extra $20 to the list price without adding any special features beyond the design. Still, for any basketball superfans, the design will make it a joy to use.
