Haley Joel Osment 'Horrified' Over 'Disgraceful Language' Used During Public Intoxication Arrest

After reviewing the body camera footage from his recent arrest, Haley Joel Osment has apologized for his use of “disgraceful language” — including antisemitic language — when being detained for alleged public intoxication and possession of an unidentified controlled substance at a California ski resort.

“I’m absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner,” Osment shared in a statement to the New York Post. “The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place. But that’s no excuse for using this disgusting word.”

In the footage of the arrest, Osment can be heard stating, “I’ve been kidnapped by a fucking Nazi,” and accusing the police officers of “torturing me.” In one instance, he refers to one officer using a particularly offensive slur against the Jewish community. “From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts,” he continued in his statement. “What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage — I’ve let the Jewish community down and it devastates me.”

Earlier this year, Osment lost his home in the Eaton wildfire that ravaged neighborhoods in California. His previous run-ins with the law include a 2006 charge for a DUI and marijuana possession after being involved in a car crash. He was sentenced to three years’ probation at the time. Years later, in 2018, the actor was involved in a verbal altercation at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. Police were called about an “unruly passenger.” When he was arrested this week at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area by the Mammoth Lakes Police Department, he was referred to in the call as an “unruly skier.”

Concluding his statement, Osment shared: “I don’t ask for anyone’s forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.”
