Shakira Postponed Her Third Show This Tour: 'My Heart Is Broken'

Shakira‘s fans in Santiago, Medellín, and Lima will all have to wait a bit longer before seeing the Colombian superstar onstage. On Sunday, Shakira postponed a third stop of the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour, this time due to issues related to the stage production at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional.

“You all, who have accompanied me for thirty years, know more than anyone my professionalism and how much I strive to give you the best,” the singer wrote in an X statement. “You can only imagine how painful it is for me as an artist after so much effort to come to a country I love and have to reprogram my show for circumstances out of my and my production team’s control.”

Shakira continued by explaining that her team relied on the “production company hired by the local promoter,” however they did not follow the specifications provided by her team to put on the show, resulting in an uneven stage that “is not stable enough to guarantee the safety of my band, dancers, fans, and me.”

“There are two things I would never compromise: the security of my team and that of my fans, and I would never offer a show below the quality standards that you all deserve,” Shakira wrote. “My heart is broken in a thousand pieces to not be able to perform for you due to reasons out of my control.”

Shakira ended her note by assuring Chile that she’ll return to the country with a full show “even if I have to inspect the floor myself.”

Shakira similarly had to postpone a show in Medellín, Colombia, on Feb. 24 because “the roof of the stage installed by the local production suffered damage that puts at risk the safety of the artist.” At the time, Shakira wrote on X, “It hurts me a lot not to be able to get on stage and sing for you as much as I wanted to.”

Shakirawas also forced to postpone her show in Lima, Peru, on Feb. 16, after suffering from an “abdominal issue” that sent her to the ER and kept her hospitalized. “The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening,” she said at the time.

The Colombian star is set to visit Buenos Aires for the tour later this week, before heading to Mexico for shows in Monterrey, Guadalajara, and a record-breaking seven nights in Mexico City. The U.S. leg of the run — which was also postponed after she upgraded from arenas to stadiums — starts in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 13.
