Earlier this year, Ethel Cain returned with Perverts, a nine-track record marking her first LP since 2022’s Preacher’s Daughter. As though she’s making up for lost time, the singer-songwriter whose real name is Hayden Silas Anhedönia has already scheduled the release of another album. Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You will arrive this August ahead of an extensive international run on the Willoughby Tucker Forever tour.
The upcoming album will build on the narrative Anhedönia has been exploring as Ethel Cain since 2018. Perverts was a dark and hazy record that focused on Ethel’s mother as she grappled with the death of her daughter. Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You, on the other hand, will serve as a prequel to Preacher’s Daughter. The musician previously told Rolling Stone that the record would focus on Ethel’s grandmother.
“I don’t like performing,” she also shared at the time. “Maybe someday, if I can figure out a way that I can perform that is better for me, but the standard setup of, ‘Go out, be in front of a bunch of people’ — I don’t like to be in front of a bunch of people. I don’t like to be the center of attention 100 percent.”
Still, Anhedönia has committed to spending four months on the road this summer and fall. The Willoughby Tucker Forever tour will span 46 dates across North America and Europe beginning with Seattle on Aug. 12 and wrapping in Lisbon on Aug. 9. Presale begins Wednesday, March 26 at 10 a.m. local time. General sale will begin on Friday, March 28 at 10 a.m. local time.
