Chelsea Handler Announces New Netflix Comedy Special 'The Feeling'

Chelsea Handler will release a new comedy special, The Feeling. The special, written by Handler and directed by Shannon Hartman, will premiere on Netflix on March 25.

Recorded at the Wellmont Theater in New Jersey, The Feeling marks Handler’s third Netflix comedy special, following 2020’s Evolution and 2022’s Revolution. A synopsis notes, “In her third Netflix comedy special, Chelsea Handler takes the stage recounting her own birth, unexpected encounters, her adolescent business ventures and a frenzy of ill-timed events all motivated by ‘the feeling.’”

A short trailer for the special sees Handler sharing her annoyance about pickleball. “I blame Covid for pickleball, right?” she says in the clip. “We didn’t have to hear about fucking pickleball before Covid. That is not a subject that I can take seriously. When people bang on and on about pickleball — that is not real exercise, okay, so shut the fuck up about it!”

The comedian told People she “shared lots of tea in this special, just when I thought there was no more tea to spill.” She added, “I stand by my comments about pickleball. I also stand by my stories about Andrew Cuomo, George W. Bush, and Bill Cosby.”

In 2023, Handler recounted to Rolling Stone how she once played pickleball at Bush’s house. “Last summer, we ended up at George W. Bush’s house at Kennebunkport,” she said. “I somehow ended up at a pickleball game in Kennebunkport and was like, ‘I can’t be here! I can’t be seen with this man!’ And I was stoned on top of it, and [Bush] was showing me his artwork. I wouldn’t take off my sunglasses and finally he was like, ‘Can you please take off your sunglasses?’ I said, ‘It’s best that I don’t. I’m pretty stoned.’ And then I looked at his artwork and I didn’t know what else to say, so I said, ‘The paint is so… thick.’”

Handler’s latest book, I’ll Have What She’s Having, is out Feb. 25. She will embark on a short tour in support of the book, with stops in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, and more.
