Watch Alanis Morissette Perform 'Ironic' on 'Everybody's Live'

Alanis Morissette appeared on Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney to showcase her 1995 hit single “Ironic.” Performing with a live band, Morissette revived the iconic song, offering a notably impassioned rendition to the studio audience.

After his introduction, host John Mulaney brought Morissette out early on the live Netflix talk show. “Everybody’s Live is the greatest music showcase in entertainment,” he told the crowd. After her performance, Morissette joined Mulaney’s other guests on the couch to discuss this week’s theme: sleep.

Since its premiere, Everybody’s Live has become a strong showcase for music. Mulaney recently toldRolling Stonethat “there’s no part of the show and there’s no part of the week that’s as exciting as when we first rehearse music.” So far this season, the show has tapped Kim Gordon and Kim Deal toperform Sonic Youth’s “Little Trouble Girl”live for the first time andreunited Canadian punk band METZfor an arbitrarily Christmas-themed episode. Last week, Jessica Pratt and Destroyer teamed up for two songs.

“Every artist [on the show] is a favorite of ours,” Mulaney said. “But we were [also] super conscious of just what would be really kinetic on television. It’s as much about knowing that we’re collaborating with people who are going to have strong and great visual ideas and are going to just blow the roof off the studio.”

Later this year, Morissette will head to Las Vegas for a residency at the Colosseum at Caesars. The shows are set for Oct. 15, Oct. 17-18, Oct. 22, Oct. 24, Oct. 25, and Nov. 1-2, with tickets on sale now.

Last year, Morissette celebrated the 25th anniversary ofSupposed Former Infatuation Junkiewith a tour that featured Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. In November, she was nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Her most recent studio album was 2020’sSuch Pretty Forks in the Road.
