A$AP Rocky's First Ray-Ban Collection Delivers Rockstar-Worthy Shades

Ray-Ban’s A$AP Rocky era has arrived. The multi-hyphenate just released his first collection with the iconic sunglasses brand after being named its first-ever creative director in February.

The capsule, called the Blacked Out Collection, sees Rocky remixing Ray-Ban’s Balorama, Clubmaster, and Wayfarer shapes. All of the pieces feature black frames and all-new “ultra black,” rockstar-vibe lenses to match. The sunnies also feature gold-plated details and a “tattoo” style AWGE logo on the temple tips. Rocky’s aesthetics are carried through the sunglasses’ custom box, which is made to look like a stack of $1,000 AWGE bills with the rapper’s face on the top.

Rocky’s partnership with Ray-Ban was announced just after he was found not guilty of firearm assault charges against his former friend A$AP Relli. Rocky teased the partnership during the trial, wearing the Mega and classic Wayfarers, the Mega Clubmaster, and other Ray-Ban styles during various courthouse visits.

“I’ve always admired Ray-Ban’s ability to stay true to its roots while constantly evolving,” Rocky said of the partnership, in a statement. “I’m excited to be part of the strong heritage and develop the next chapter for an iconic brand like Ray-Ban.”

The Blacked Out Collection is the first of many from Rocky and Ray-Ban. At Milan Fashion Week, we got a peek at some of the duo’s other forthcoming styles, including futuristic oversized wraparound shades.

His ability to push the boundaries of the diverse worlds he explores aligns with the Ray-Ban DNA. We are reinforcing the brand’s values of innovation, pioneering spirit, and courage.”

Although Rocky is continuing his (very successful) fashion career, he’s also working to drop his first album since 2018’s Testing. The album, titled Don’t Be Dumb, is slated to release this year. Rocky performed an unreleased track from the album at Rolling Loud California last month.
