Saturday Night Live is tapping into WWE Friday Night Smackdown in the promotional teaser for its upcoming double-duty episode set to be helmed by Bad Bunny. In the brief clip for the episode, the ultimate face-off is between Bad Bunny, the host, versus Bad Bunny, the musical guest — and neither are even considering tapping out. The showdown will happen on Oct. 22.
When the overly dramatic announcer asks if the Puerto Rican superstar is nervous, his bravado shines through as he responds: “Hell no, I love being silly.” And while Bad Bunny the host might be in a silly, goofy mood, Bad Bunny, the musical guest, is a bit scrappier. Busting into the rehearsal space surrounded by a cloud of smoke — and addressing the room in Spanish — he spits: “Shut up, dummy. I’m here.”
And the insults don’t stop coming. “I’ve got a weekend update for you, Amigo: you suck,” leather-clad Bad Bunny tells his softer, stripe-wearing counterpart, who can barely muster up his comeback before he’s being pelted once again with, “You put the L in SNL.”
But even when it looks like it might not be a fair fight, Host Bad Bunny flips the script. “Please, turn on my subtitles,” he politely asks the crew before switching to Spanish. “Thank you, because this idiot doesn’t know how to read. I’m gonna break your face, asshole.”
Last week, the rapper released his fifth studio album, Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, giving Musical Guest Bad Bunny a bit of an edge over Host Bad Bunny — but let’s not underestimate the comedic prowess of the musician, who was also a scene stealer in Bullet Train and won his first-ever WWE solo match earlier this year as he defeated wrestler Damian Priest in their San Juan Street Fight at the WWE Backlash event.
