Blink-182 has postponed four shows on its European tour after drummer Travis Barker flew back to the United States because of “an urgent family matter.”
The band shared the news on Instagram Stories, declining to share any details about what had prompted Barker’s return home. Barker hasn’t posted anything either, though in the hours before the postponements were announced, he did share several photos on Instagram Stories of a dedicated prayer room. Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian, who is currently pregnant, also has not shared anything on social media.
The postponed shows include two gigs in Glasgow (scheduled for Sept. 1 and 2), plus concerts in Belfast (Sept. 4) and Dublin (Sept. 5). As it stands, Blink-182 are set to resume their tour on Sept. 8 in Antwerp, Belgium.
“More information in regards to [Barker’s] return to Europe and rescheduled dates will be provided as soon as available,” the band wrote.
Blink-182 have spent much of 2023 on the road after announcing last year that the band’s classic lineup — Barker, bassist Mark Hoppus, and guitarist Tom DeLonge — were reuniting after DeLonge’s exit in 2015 (Barker and Hoppus had kept the band going with Matt Skiba). The reunion has featured plenty of highs — like an unexpected headlining Coachella set and Barker learning about Kardashian’s pregnancy on stage — though it has endured some setbacks, like the postponement of a first-ever Latin American tour after Barker injured his finger.
Blink-182 are also working on a new album, with Barker telling Rolling Stone earlier this year that he managed to record “the last three songs on the album with a broken finger.” The band hasn’t shared any details about the LP yet — like a release date or title — though they did share a new song, “Edging,” upon announcing the reunion last year.
