Blink-182 pay homage to the Ramones in the band’s new video for “Dance With Me,” the latest single off the trio’s upcoming reunion album One More Time…
Billed as a “love letter” to the iconic New York punk band — one of Blink-182’s favorite groups — the Malloys-directed “Dance With Me” finds Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker in full Ramones regalia — leather jackets, sunglasses, matching wigs — as they recreate some of that band’s most memorable moments.
The trio previously shared the title track and “More Than You Know” from One More Time…, which marks the first Blink-182 album with Hoppus, DeLonge, and Barkersince 2011’sNeighborhoods. DeLonge departed the group in 2015 to embark on someextraterrestrialendeavors, and during his absence, Blink recorded two albums —California andNine with guitarist Matt Skiba. The classic lineupannounced their reunion last Octoberand shared anew track, “Edging”(which will appear onOne More Time…).
As the band explained in an Apple Music trailer for the album, it was Hoppus’bout with lymphomathat inspired DeLonge to rejoin the band. “I remember telling my wife, ‘I don’t think I’m ever going to play music again, I don’t think I’m ever gonna tour again,’” DeLonge says in the clip. “Until Mark told me he was sick, and then I was like, that’s the only thing I wanted to do.”
Similarly, after the band initially broke up in 2008, it was Barker surviving the plane crash that killed four people (including DJ AM) that catalyzed their reunion at that time. The album’s first single and title track, “One More Time” touches on how tragedy brings the band back together, Barker said.
The 17-song, Barker-produced One More Time… arrives on October 20.
