A banner year for indie rock supergroup boygenius continues with a stripped-back version of Shania Twain’s 1997 hit, “You’re Still The One.” The trio consisting of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus performed the classic single during a recent appearance on BBC Radio 1.
On the soulful track, Bridgers and Baker accompany the group’s harmonies with their guitar and mandolin (the instrument that was featured in the original version), respectively. Bridgers and Dacus each took a verse, with Baker taking over during the song’s final chorus.

It has been quite the year for the trio, who while rehearsing for theirSaturday Night Live performancefound out they had been nominated forsix Grammys.
Their full-length debut,the record,received nods for Album of the Year, Best Alternative Music Album, and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, while their excellent “Not Strong Enough” could possibly take home Record of the Year, Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song. In addition, “Cool About It” earned a nomination for Best Alternative Music Performance.
Bridgers also received a seventh nomination, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, for her appearance on SZA’s “Ghost in the Machine.” This marks 12 Grammy nominations in Bridgers’ career, asPunisherearned her four nominations in 2021: Best New Artist, Best Alternative Music Album, Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song (“Kyoto”). It marks the first Grammy nominations for Baker and Dacus.
Boygenius has received critical acclaim for their LPthe record, even reaching No. 2 onRolling Stone‘s 100 Best Albums of 2023list. “Whether set against folky, grungy, or Simon and Garfunkel-y backdrops, each song maintains an intimacy that makes you feel included — and that’s the whole point, after all,” read a review of the album.
In January, boygenius gave an exclusive interview toRolling Stonein acover storythat featured them replicatingNirvana’s legendary 1994 cover. “Lifting each other up [is] how we create,” Bridgers told us. “We all get to be the lead. We all get the high of each other being in the front, which is so sick and has been the ethos of this band since day one.”
