“I just want people to go away feeling like they’ve been entertained, of course. But I personally want them to see the person inside of me, the things you go through,” Parton previously said in a Q&A session about Dolly: A True Original Musical earlier this year. “Everybody thinks it’s all glamour and glory, money and fame, but there’s so much more to a life like mine… and the prices that you have to pay, the miles that you have to travel and the sacrifices you have to make.”

With a book by Parton and Maria S. Schlatter, the Bartlett Sher-directed musical “takes us on a journey through the life of this rhinestone in the rough, from her barefoot beginnings in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee to performing in platform heels under the bright lights of Hollywood,” a description on the musical’s site reads. “Featuring all her beloved hits, including ‘I Will Always Love You,’ ‘Jolene,’ ‘Coat of Many Colors,’ and ‘9 to 5,’ and new songs written by Dolly, this joyful and moving new musical will take you inside the literal rags-to-rhinestones story of Dolly Parton and give you new insight into her triumphs, trials, and trailblazing.”
Following its Nashville run, the Dolly musical is set for a run on Broadway in 2026.
In December, Parton will head to Vegas for her upcoming 2025 residency at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace. “To say I’m excited would be an understatement,” she shared in a statement. “I haven’t worked Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there. I’m looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well.”
