Since he was first introduced to the world as Black Sabbath‘s frontman nearly 55 years ago, Ozzy Osbourne recorded some of the greatest heavy metal music of all time, from “Paranoid” and “Iron Man,” to solo tracks like “Crazy Train” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” forever changing rock — and pop culture — in the decades to come.
“My life has just been unbelievable,” Osbourne previously told Rolling Stone in a 2018 interview. “You couldn’t write my story; you couldn’t invent me.”
Following the news of the metal pioneer’s death at 76 on July 22 and weeks after his final performance at Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, England, Osbourne’s solo albums and Black Sabbath LPs have returned to Amazon’s CD and vinyl bestsellers charts.

Sabbath’s second album, Paranoid, currently sits on top of Amazon’s CD and vinyl bestsellers chart in the rock category — a spot it also shares on Rolling Stone‘s list of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time. “It’s impossible to imagine what heavy metal would have become without the iconic gloomy riff of ‘Iron Man,’ the musical thickness of ‘a Pigs’ and the rapid-fire chugging of ‘Paranoid,’” Rolling Stone described the band’s 1970 album.
Along with Paranoid, Osbourne’s albums with Black Sabbath and many of his solo LPs hold the Top 10 spots on Amazon’s charts for top-selling rock CDs and vinyl records. The Prince of Darkness’ 1980 solo debut, Blizzard of Ozz, takes the second spot on the list, followed by Memories of a Madman and No More Tears.

Osbourne’s most recent solo studio project, Patient Number 9, sits at the seventh spot on the list, with Sabbath’s Greatest Hits (1970-1978) and Ozzy’s Bark at the Moon LP earning the ninth and tenth spots.

Beyond Osbourne’s music, the songwriter’s autobiography, I Am Ozzy, has recently sold out on Amazon, with his upcoming memoir, Last Rites, also climbing the retailer’s bestsellers list. The two titles currently occupy the top two spots on Amazon’s rock band biographies list.
