Carlos Santana postponed his second concert this week after testing positive for Covid-19. The musician was scheduled to perform in Sugar Land, Texas, on Wednesday as part of his Oneness tour.
“Unfortunately, out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to also postpone this evening’s show in Sugar Land,” his manager Michael Vrionis said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “Carlos experienced dehydration yesterday, and has since tested positive for Covid.”
Vrionis assured fans that Santana is “doing well and will be back on his US Tour this Friday in Thackerville, OK,” adding, “We appreciate everyone’s well wishes and concern. Carlos is looking forward to seeing you all very soon.”
On Tuesday, the artist postponed a concert in San Antonio, Texas, after becoming dehydrated while preparing for the night’s show at the Majestic Theatre, said his manager at the time.
Back in January, Santanapostponed the start of his Las Vegas residency after a “hard fall” and breaking a finger on his left hand. At the time, Vrionis said that the guitarist wouldn’t be able to play for about six weeks.
Santana currently has Oneness tour stops this month scheduled in Thackerville, Tulsa, and Nashville before heading to New Orleans at the beginning of May for its annual Jazz Festival. He is set to return to his Las Vegas residency on May 14, then will be embarking on a European tour for the summer.
