Daniel Seavey Postpones European Shows After Doctors Warn of Irreversible Vocal Damage

Daniel Seavey fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the star on the road. On Tuesday, the “Second Wind” singer announced that he’d have to postpone his upcoming shows over his vocal cords becoming “completely unusable.”

“Even though this is the absolute last thing i’d ever want to do, it is physically impossible for me to perform right now,” Seavey wrote on Instagram. “My doctors made it clear that my vocal cords are completely unusable right now, and that any attempt at forcing them to work will result in permanent and irreversible damage.”

Seavey had 10 shows left on his Second Wind tour, including stops in Paris, Manchester, England, and London. He is set to play Australia and New Zealand in early June, and said he hopes to be in better health by his first show on June 7 in Perth. Seavey also promised to reschedule the concerts as soon as possible.

“I am so absolutely devastated to have ended up in this situation and am so so so sorry to every single one of you I am letting down,” the singer wrote. “My heart is truly broken. Seeing you and performing for [you] guys every night on this tour has been one of the best experiences of my entire life.”

Seavey ended his note by thanking fans for their understanding and the “immense love” he’s received. He also shared a video showing how shot his voice is as he attempted to further thank fans for their support.

The new tour was in support of his March album, Second Wind, his debut solo record, three years after his band Why Don’t We went on hiatus. He kicked off his tour in February and performed his former group’s song “Fallin” to his bandmates, who attended his show in Los Angeles.

“When I created this album I built it all around the idea of my live show,” he said after announcing his LP. “I imagined the live rendition for every single song at the same time I was creating the song. You have no idea how excited I am to bring it all to life for you.”
