RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is celebrating its 10th season with a brand-new format — and it’s bringing an iconic set of stars to judge the 18 queens competing for the crown. On Thursday, Paramount+ released the trailer for the new season, which reveals that Chappell Roan, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Ice Spice are among the judges for this new season.
Rounding out the guest judges list will be Colman Domingo, Kate Beckinsale, Susanne Bartsch, Adam Shankman, Jamal Sims, Mayan Lopez, Devery Jacobs, and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Law Roach will be joining as a recurring judge on the season as well. The first episode will air on May 9 with Ice Spice as the judge.
“Do any of you queers have anything sexy I can slip into?” asks Roan, who walks into the Werk Room in a robe and wig cap. On the judging chair, the pop star wears campy latex and says, “Thanks for having me, Ru!”
“It’s good to see us, isn’t it?” says Erivo from behind the judge’s panel in the trailer. “No need to respond!” adds Grande. “That was rhetorical.”
Set to Bebe Rexha’s “I’m the Drama,” the season trailer teases a new tournament-style for the show that brings together 18 of the most iconic queens — the most of any season — from previous Drag Race eras.
The queens will be divided into groups of six, each competing in separate brackets across three episodes. At the end of the brackets, the top three queens will head to a semi-final where they’ll face off against queens from other groups. The tournament will then end in a Lip Sync Smackdown for the Crown finale and a grand prize of $200,000.
Bracket one features queens such as Season 14’s DeJa Skye and Bosco, Season Nine’s Aja, and Season 15’s Irene the Alien. The second will include Season 15 finalist Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Season 14 and franchise fave Jorgeous, along with Kerri Colby and Lydia B Collins. The third bracket includes three-time competitor Ginger Minj, Latina star Cynthia Lee Fontaine, and Season 14 finalist Daya Betty.
The non-All Stars version of Drag Race recently crowned Onya Nurve as the winner of Season 17. Angeria Paris VanMichaels won the ninth season of All Stars, raising $231,500 for the National Black Justice Coalition.
