Faye Webster Enlists Lil Yachty For Whimsical 'Lego Ring'

Faye Webster and Lil Yachty have teamed up for “Lego Ring,” a whimsical new track from Webster’s upcoming album Underdressed at the Symphony.

The video below features the Atlanta musicians — who have been friends since middle school — sitting on a couch and debating which of Webster’s songs to play à la Guitar Hero. Yachty passes on the Atlanta Millionaires Club track “Jonny,” as well as songs from 2021’s I Know I’m Funny haha: “Sometimes,” “In a Good Way,” and “Kind Of.”

Finally, the duo settled on “Lego Ring,” a classic Webster fusion of idiosyncratic beats, bass, and a solid rock riff. Webster handles the video game’s guitar while Yachty bangs on some drums, backing her on vocals while the tempo gets chaotic and trippy.

“I think I hit a point in songwriting during this record where I was just like, man, I said a lot,” Webster recalled. “The record feels like a mouthful to me, but I don’t always have to be deep. I can just sit down and sing about this ring made of crystal Lego that I really want.”

“Lego Ring” follows the singles “But Not Kiss” and “Lifetime.” Undressed at the Symphony, out March 1 via Secretly Canadian, was cut at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas. It was inspired by Webster attending the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, in which she’d buy a ticket at the very last minute and feel anonymous in the crowd.

“Going to the symphony was almost like therapy for me,” she adds. “I was quite literally underdressed at the symphony because I would just decide at the last moment that that’s what I wanted to do. I got to leave what I felt like was kind of a shitty time in my life and be in this different world for a minute. I liked that I didn’t feel like I belonged.”
