Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Are Back on Set as 'Freaky Friday 2' Begins Production

Freaky Friday 2 is getting the party started and the bodies swapping. Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are on set reprising their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman as the long-awaited sequel to the 2003 film begins production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s returning cast also includes Mark Harmon as Ryan and Chad Michael Murray as Jake. The Freaky Friday veterans will be joined by newcomers Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, and Manny Jacinto. Jordan Weiss wrote the script for the project, which Nisha Ganatra will direct.

Earlier this year, tentative details about the Freaky Friday 2 plot were revealed and set the stage for an all-new body swap film. This time, Tess and Anna will trade places with two 14-year-old girls, Harper and Lily. Harper is the daughter of Anna and Lily is the daughter of Anna’s fiancé Eric Davis, a British restaurateur. The film will reportedly take place 20 years after the events of the original adaptation.

Lohan first confirmed the Freaky Friday sequel in March on Watch What Happens Live. “I don’t want to say too much,” she told Andy Cohen. “We’re both excited! I’m gonna speak for Jamie.”

Speaking with Rolling Stone in 2022, Curtis shared: “Because everybody struggles with that conundrum of adulthood and youth. We all judge both sides really harshly. It’s that old adage of, ‘Walk a mile in my shoes.’ Freaky Friday is one of those great examples of, you’re challenging somebody because they make you angry because of their limitations. And then you walk in their shoes and recognize that, in fact, all of those restrictions are there for a reason.”

Freaky Friday 2 will be produced by Andrew Gunn, who worked on the original film, and Kristin Burr, a former Disney executive.
