Do you know how insane (and maybe a little genius) you’d have to be to design a clog that you can strap your timepiece to? In truth, Crocshave always been a little polarizing — but they’re also still insanely popular, and ever since Christopher Kane introduced Crocs to the luxury footwear market in 2016, we’ve gotten everything from thick-heeled, Balenciagaplatforms, to silver-studded Mega Crush clogs from MCM. That hasn’t stopped comments from celebs like rapper and business mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson answering the question of “can Crocs ever be cool?” with a resounding, “No. Not even if Balenciaga make them this thick.”
But maybe they’ve gotten a bad rap — after all, these aren’t just the neon-bright, Jibbitz-laded clogs from your youth. We keep seeing the boundaries of Crocs design continuously being pushed, from collaborations with artists like Bad Bunny and Justin Bieber, to now the new G-Shock x Crocs drop, featuring their Echo Wave clog in a glow-in-the-dark finish — and a modular watch face that snaps from your wrist to the rivet in seconds. The G-Shock Echo Wave Bundle is available now on Crocs.com for $200.

This creative force of footwear is undoubtably something we’ve never seen before, which G-Shock is calling “the ultimate fusion of function and flex” (okay, Dad). But let’s take a second here and discuss the shoe itself, a cream-colored Echo Wave Croc that features a sportier, futuristic-looking hybrid design from the brand. It’s wave-like shape isn’t just for aesthetics (although they look like a much cooler version of Yeezys). The silhouette and higher heel helps hug the foot, so you’re comfortably stepping even without the added back strap. According to the press release, the custom marbled ankle strap that’s giving Nineties Jazz paper cup is “inspired by G-Shock’s iconic durability and precise craftsmanship.” Did we mention that they also glow in the dark?
While we don’t have an exact model number for the retro-futuristic timepiece bundled in the set, we can pretty confidently say it’s a part of the GA2100 series (more commonly known as “CasiOak” by G-Shock fans). Think rugged features, like a shock-resistant design, 200-meter water resistance, world time tracking 31 time zones, five daily alarms and a double LED light. It’s important to mention that you can wear this watch like, well, a regular watch, but strapping it to your shoe might end up as a useful (if not quirky) solution for folks who work with their hands (such as a painter featured in the campaign images, or a chef in a kitchen). Maybe Apple can learn a thing or two from this design approach, given that runners are already strapping their Apple Watch to their ankles for more accurate step reporting.
