Directed by frequent collaborator Thom Zimny with Springsteen co-producing, the film follows the band throughout their electrifying 2023-24 tour, offering “the most in-depth look ever at the creation of their legendary live performances, including footage of band rehearsals, backstage moments, rare archival clips and personal reflections from [the legendary rocker] himself,” according to the film’s logline.

As the group’s first tour since 2017, and postponed twice due to the pandemic, Springsteen says in the film that his aim post-COVID was to throw “the biggest party I could.” Part concert film and part documentary, Road Diary features interviews with band members including guitarists Nils Lofgren and Steven Van Zandt (the tour’s official music director), bassist Garry Tallent, pianist Roy Bittan, drummer Max Weinberg, along with late saxophonist Clarence Clemons and late founding member Danny Federici.
