Watch Joe Keery's Djo Showcase 'Potion' on 'Kimmel'

Djo, the musical project from Stranger Things actor Joe Keery, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform his song “Potion.” Appearing with a live band, Keery gave the acoustic number a sense of emotional heft as he sang, “I’ll try for all of my life/ just to find someone/ who leaves on the light for me.”

“Potion” comes off Djo’s new LP, The Crux. It was inspired by Lindsey Buckingham, who uses guitar technique called Travis-picking in many of his songs. “‘Potion’ is like your favorite pair of blue jeans,” Keery explained of the track in a statement. “I’d been working on Travis-picking when I wrote this song, so it’s kind of like ifHarry Nilssonand Lindsey Buckingham had a baby.”

The Crux, released April 4, is Keery’s third album as Djo. It marks the first full-length LP from Djo since 2022’sDecide, which included the viral single “End of Beginning,” and was produced by Keery and Adam Thein, who also assisted onDecide.

“I’ve been so lucky to be onStranger Things. That’s obviously touched a lot of people. But I wasn’t involved in the writing process, so to have something I actually wrote do that is a really unique experience,” he previouslytoldRolling Stoneabout the success of “End of Beginning.”

The actor and musician is currently on tour in support of the LP. The tour runs through early May and wraps with three nights at Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, New York. Outside of the tour, Keery recently made his Coachella debut (he’ll perform there again this weekend) and will appear at Lollapalooza in August.
