John Oliver Wants Andy Cohen to Recruit George Santos for 'Real Housewives'

After disgraced New York congressman George Santos hadfinally been kicked outof the House of Representatives on Dec. 1,Last Week Tonighthost John Oliver celebrated the occasion by suggesting Santos might find success on one of the reality franchises on Bravo.

On Sunday night’s episode ofLast Week Tonight, Oliver could not hide his glee over the fact that“they finally kicked George Santos out”from Congress.

“I say finally because it was their third attempt at doing that,” Oliver pointed out on the show. “Apparently it takes three times to get rid of him — a sort of reverseBeetlejuicesituation, if you will.”

“The truth is, this man never belonged in Congress, he belongs on Bravo,” Oliver continued.

After bringing up the 140-page George Santos Vulnerability Report, which apparently includes subheads like, “Florida Drivers License Suspension,” and “Securities Fraud ‘Ponzi scheme,’” Oliver listed the controversies Santos was involved in while a member of Congress, including implying that “his young niece had been kidnapped from a playground in Queens,” or that his mom died on 9/11, although records do not show his mother being in NYC at the time.

“That kind of messiness isn’t justfriends ofbehavior, it’s full-on housewife,” Oliver noted. “Santos was a match at giving us A-plus headlines like, ‘George Santos has meltdown while holding mystery baby’ – and by the way, when Santos was asked if that baby was his, his answer was ‘Not yet,’ which is the single funniest possible answer.”

“Santos clearly didn’t deliver for his constituents, but he delivered hard for the rest of us,” continued Oliver.“I don’t want him to be in my government and I don’t want to sit next to him on an airplane but I definitely want him inAndy Cohen‘s menagerie of damaged human beings.”

“Call this man now, Cohen, and pay him what he is worth,” begged Oliver.

Oliver’s suggestion that Santos’ parlay his evil for entertainment may not be too far-fetched.Deadline recently reported thatHBO is developing a movie based on Santos. HBO Films optioned the rights to a new book from Mark Chiusano,The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing, and Very American Legend of George Santos, that came out last week.Frank Rich, ofVeepandSuccession, will executive produce along with Mike Makowsky, who will also serve as writer. Chiusano will be a consulting producer.

According toDeadline, the film promises to be a romp, telling “the story of a seemingly minor local race that wound up a battle for the soul of Long Island, and unexpectedly carved the path for the world’s most famous (and now disgraced) congressman. It follows the Gatsby-esque journey of a man from nowhere who exploited the system, waged war on truth and swindled one of the wealthiest districts in the country to achieve his American Dream.”
