Kelly Clarkson, Peyton Manning, and Mike Tirico are teaming up to host the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Paris on July 26 for NBC. The group made the announcement on The Tonight Show, sharing the news with host Jimmy Fallon before playing a lively game of “Olympictionary.”
“The three of us are going to do an album,” Tirico joked before confirming the trio is joining forces to host the opening ceremony in Paris. “I’m so glad we can say it,” Clarkson added with clear excitement. “I’m not a vault! I hate secrets.”
Tirico teased what fans can expect from the Olympics opening moments. “The opening ceremony is going to be so different and unique,” he said. “Down the Seine, down the river with the athletes on a boat, so it’s not the stadium where they walk in. It will incorporate Paris. And the games are going to be amazing as you know, swimming, gymnastics… Team USA in track and field could be incredibly strong, the Dream Team, the U.S. soccer team, the women’s basketball team.”
Later Tirico asked Fallon if he wanted to host the Olympics closing ceremony with him. “Are you serious? Is this real? I’m in! I’m in!” Fallon responded.
The trio then showed off their drawing skills (or lack thereof) during “Olympictionary.”
Clarkson also announced the hosting news on her own The Kelly Clarkson show alongside Tirico, Manning, and the official Olympics Torch. “Together we are hosting the opening ceremony for the Paris Olympic Games,” she told the audience before bringing them onstage. “You will never see these three individuals do anything else together. This is the most random thing that they’ve done and I am down for the ride.”
The 2024 Olympics Summer Games will kick off on July 26 in Paris. NBC and Peacock will be the primary platforms for NBC’s coverage of the games, which run through Aug. 11. Snoop Dogg was previously announced as one of NBC’s live commentators.
“I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris.
