Kid Cudi has finally released his Star Trek-inspired new song “Heaven’s Galaxy,” part of the rapper’s collaboration with the classic sci-fi franchise.
“I grew up watchingStar Trekwith my dad, who is single-handedly responsible for turning me into a fan,” Kid Cudi said in a statement when the collabo was announced in September.
“The most important thing to me is to be as authentic as possible.Star Trek’smission has always been about having a hopeful future and when I was first approached about this project it was the perfect marriage of all the things I believe in – being brave and a hero by doing what’s right and fighting for freedom. I can’t wait to share my love of this incredible franchise with the world.”
In addition to the six-minute “Heaven’s Galaxy,” the Star Trek team-up will also feature a line of Cudi-Trek merch as well as Cudi becoming a playable character — in full U.S.S. Enterprise regalia, as a character named Captain Skyles — on the video game Fortnite; “Heaven’s Galaxy” as well as other tracks off his upcoming album Insano will also feature within the game.
The rapper will usher in the collaboration on Thursday with a visit to the New York Comic Con.
Kid Cudi previously announced that Insano has been pushed back tentatively to January 2024 because he’s a perfectionist. “I want to make sure that everything lines up and I give y’all the best version of myself,” Cudi wrote in his statement. “This album is amazing and I want to make sure I present it in the best way for y’all.”
