These cats need a playdate! On Thursday, Mariska Hargitay shared a photo of her new pet cat on social media — and revealed that she named it Karma after a Taylor Swift lyric. It’s a full-circle moment for the kitties (and celebrities), since Swift named one of her own feline friends after Hargitay’s character in Law and Order: SVU: Olivia Benson.
“Karma is a Cat @taylorswift Meet Karma. My Cat.🐱,” Hargitay wrote on Instagram, quoting the lyrics to the Midnights song with hashtags #MeAndKarmaVibeLikeThat and #KarmaIsACat.
“Please bring this baby to work,” Ryan Buggle, who plays her son on SVU, commented on the post.
Swift is a proud cat lady and owns three kitties, all named after TV or movie characters: Benjamin Button, Olivia Benson, and Meredith Grey. Swift even featured Hargitay in the music video for 1989‘s “Bad Blood” alongside Ellen Pompeo, who famously plays Meredith on Grey’s Anatomy.
Hargitay also joined the singer onstage during two shows on her 1989 World Tour in Philadelphia in June 2015, and alongside the other famous friends from the “Bad Blood” music video on the MTV VMAs red carpet that same year.
It’s unclear if Swift knows about Hargitay’s new cat’s moniker. The singer is currently in London, where she walked the red carpet for Beyoncé’s Renaissance film premiere. Swift showed her support for the musician whomade a special appearanceof her own at the Los Angeles premiere of the concert filmTaylor Swift: The Eras Tourback in October.
