The 2025 edition dropped last month and while the glittery gold gown and festive red packaging should have made this Barbie a must-have, reactions to the doll have been decidedly muted.

The 2025 Barbie Holiday Doll is dressed in a silver and gold gown with an ornate, damask-style print, ruffled tulle collar, and oversized bow. The look is accompanied by dangling gold earrings and matching gold heels. Everything is presented in a clear display box with red and gold, gift wrap-style packaging.
Designed by Carlyle Nuera, the Lead Designer for Barbie Signature at Mattel, the doll is “dressed for festive revelry” and “ready to embrace the delights of the season in style,” per a release.
Reviewers haven’t been feeling as festive about the new Barbie release though. Commenters on Reddit have compared the doll to everything from a “walking Hallmark gift bag” to “Golden Girls meets tree skirt,” while likening the dress to “drab curtains in someone’s house.”
“I thought this was a bootleg at first glance,” writes one particularly peeved Redditor. Another compares the box to an “AI design.”
This comment might be the kicker: “The 2025 Holiday Barbie did not come to slay,” a user writes. “She came to sleigh straight into a Hobby Lobby clearance aisle.” Ouch.
