Centered around the unfortunate circumstances of the divorce, Daniel Hillard, played by Williams, fights to spend time with his kids after losing a custody battle to his ex-wife, Miranda Hillard, played by Sally Field. When his visitation rights are stripped away, he plans to cosplay as a British caretaker, Mrs. Doubtfire, to infiltrate his ex-wife’s home and spend more time with his kids.
Like all Williams movies, humor is a central tactic when discussing serious issues. Rather than face reality and get a traditional job to support himself and regain his parental rights, the main character goes to great lengths to do anything but the obvious. It’s a classic film worth watching again and again.
