For decades, barriers and biases have made it harder for women to receive the same opportunities and recognition as men in athletics. Title IX — a law that bans sex-based discrimination in education programs — wasn’t enacted until 1972. Yet, in the face of adversity, women have continued to shatter records and redefine greatness in sports.
