The last time Olivia Rodrigo performed at the Grammys, she was chilling in a vintage white Mercedes Benz belting “Drivers License.” Now the pop star has returned, this time for a gushing version of “Vampire.”
Performing the Guts track at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday, Rodrigo arrived onstage in a deep red silk gown, tearing through the track as streaks of blood slowly appeared on her arms and face.
Rodrigo was nominated for six Grammys this year, with “Vampire” receiving three nods (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance), and “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl” picking up Best Rock Song. Guts rounded out her nominations with Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.
In 2022, Rodrigo’s excellent debut Sour was nominated for seven Grammys and she took home three: Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance (“Drivers License”).
Following the release of Guts last September, Rodrigo brought the highlight “Get Him Back!” to the VMAs. She’s kept quite busy since, performing on SNL, ushering her hero Sheryl Crow into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and releasing “Can’t Catch Me Now” for the Hunger Games prequelThe Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes.
In October, Rodrigo was featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, where she took us on a journey into Guts. “This album encapsulates growing up and figuring yourself out in the world, and the awkwardness of that,” she said. “I feel myself growing leaps and bounds.”
