SZA‘s big year is getting even bigger. Following the release of Lana, her Super Bowl appearance, and her upcoming Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar, she also starred in the hit comedy One of Them Days. It’s still playing in some theaters, but if you don’t have a chance to buy a ticket, it’s available to rent or buy from VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV.

The film, which stars Keke Palmer and SZA in her acting debut, was directed by Lawrence Lamont and produced by Issa Rae. It was released in January and hit VOD platforms earlier this month. The film will eventually land on Netflix, though no streaming date was announced.
Set in LA, the comedy follows two friends who are at risk of being evicted after SZA’s boyfriend blows through their rent money on a shoddy t-shirt business. The film takes place over one day, as Palmer’s Dreux and SZA’s Alyssa find themselves desperately trying to scrounge together enough money to stave off eviction.
In the film, they cross paths with a who’s who of comedy stars, including Katt Williams as a sympathetic drifter who tries to talk them out of taking a payday loan, Janelle James as a wildly underqualified phlebotomist, and Lil Rel Howery as a sneakerhead looking to buy the rare Jordans Dreux and Alyssa find. The film also stars Maude Apatow as the bubbly, naive new neighbor.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Palmer discussed working with Issa Rae and getting the script. “When I first read the script, you could tell it had weight but still had a levity and humanity to it, which I think is so important. It gave me that feeling that I had as a kid when I would watch those old Nineties, 2000s comedies. You just see our culture, and you see friendship. It’s one of my favorite movies that I’ve done. Not every movie that you do is [one] that you’d watch a lot. This I would.”
