Rod Wave’s concert at Inglewood, California’s Intuit Dome was canceled Wednesday hours before showtime due to the wildfires sweeping across the Los Angeles area.
“The health and safety of our fans and employees will remain the top priority,” the arena, which just two days earlier hosted a WWE Raw taping, said Wednesday of the cancelation. “Tickets will be refunded at the original point of purchase.”
The rapper added on Instagram, “Concert tonight cancelled by Gov. officials. I hope everyone stays safe.”
On Thursday, Inglewood’s neighboring Kia Forum announced that this weekend’s iHeartRadio Alter Ego show – featuring Cage the Elephant, Glass Animals, St. Vincent and more – was also canceled due to the wildfires.
“The devastation from the fires is beyond comprehension,” organizers said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the Los Angeles community and listeners who have been affected by this tragedy. We also want to recognize and thank all the first responders.”
The wildfires also forced the postponement of the Los Angeles Kings’ Wednesday night game at Crypto.com Arena “in light of the devastating effects of the wildfires.” The Los Angeles Lakers’ home game Thursday night versus the Charlotte Hornets at Crypto.com Arena was also postponed, the NBA announced.
Thedevastating firesin Los Angeles— which have so far killed at least five people and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses — have also forced several television shows and entertainment industry events to shut down.

The Critics Choice Awards, which were supposed to take place this Sunday, Jan. 12, were postponed and rescheduled for Jan. 26. Academy Awards voting was also extended by two days, pushing the nominations announcement from Friday, January 15 to Sunday, January 17. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association also indefinitely postponed their annual award gala, originally scheduled for January 11.
Thefires have displacedmore than 130,000 people, destroyed thousands of homes, businesses, and other structures, and killed at least five people, the Los Angeles Times reports. The Palisades fire has burned through nearly 12,000 acres west ofLos Angeles, while the Eaton fire has burned over 10,000 acres east of the city. A new fire, called the Sunset Fire by officials, in the Hollywood Hills broke out Thursday, but Reuters reports that one has largely been contained.
The blazes have been fueled by raging windstorms, with gusts reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour, as well as swaths of dry vegetation.
